The objective of this course is to better understand the causes and types of flooding in urban areas, as well as the associated risks and legislation. In addition, students will learn how to numerically simulate these natural hazards to generate associated risk maps. Finally, a study of the scientific literature on urban flooding will give a first experience in research to the students .
Part 1: Urban hydrology (background)
Part 2: Intense rain events in urban areas (no flooding)
Part 3: Urban flooding
Part 4: Numerical simulations of urban floods 2D numerical modelling (theory & project)
A substantial part of the activities is dedicated to environmentally sustainable development and social responsibility.
Protecting urban areas from natural disasters limits the destruction of urban areas and the generation of waste
