Goals

Nuclear energy is an important technological and economic field which covers multidisciplinary skills and various professions (project management, engineering, safety, etc.). This module aims to provide both scientific and technological training in the field of nuclear energy. A large part will be devoted to the study of the PWR system of nuclear reactors. This module will also enable the student to understand all the solutions to the questions of safety of installations and protection of persons. A large part of the course is taught by a professional in the nuclear industry.

Programme

Physics (lectures 1 and 2): elements of nuclear physics, fission reaction and neutron cycle Nuclear reactor engineering (lectures 3, 4, 5 and 6): introduction, PWR components, control, accidents and safety systems, safety TD 1 and 2: Physics (uranium decay) and PWR power generation BE: Design of a direct cycle gas HTR reactor
