Experimental techniques for solid and fluid mechanics

Goals

The training program " Experimental techniques for solid and fluid mechanics" introduces experimental methods in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, and materials science, as well as the approach to be adopted for their practical implementation. Thus, in parallel with the theoretical concepts covered in the lectures, this training program aims to enable students to: raise awareness of physical phenomena in mechanics, learn various measurement techniques for useful variables in mechanics (strain gauges, accelerometry, photoelasticity, stroboscopy, etc.), develop a concrete understanding of theoretical concepts and thereby facilitate their assimilation, know how to validate experimental results: critically analyze the quality and relevance of measurements, compare experimental results with those obtained from theoretical or numerical approaches.
