Goals

As the first mechanics course scheduled in the engineering curriculum, the aim is to introduce the concepts needed to model the forces applied to a mechanical system. This modeling will be considered a prerequisite for other mechanics modules in the curriculum. In the case of mechanical systems in static equilibrium, resolution methods (graphical or analytical) will be used to determine unknown forces (in links) as a function of applied loads.

Programme

Nature and modeling of forces (weight, tension, pressure...), Force, Torque. Problem 1D: algebraic sum of forces Problem 2D: Vector sum of forces, and algebraic sum of moments. Graphical method. 3D problem: Torsor modeling (vector sum of moments)
