Goals

The goal is to be able to follow conversations in the workplace and use English in a professional context. Students are taught business English : they must be able to read instructions, books and technical articles written in English, read and answer emails. Students develop and consolidate the four fundamental skills: oral expression, listening comprehension, written expression, reading comprehension. Special emphasis is placed on oral skills in the teaching of English at École Centrale. A TOEIC score of 785 is a prerequisite for graduation at the end of the third year.

Programme

  • Intensive oral-comprehension exercises (long and demanding material)
  • Speaking in small student groups: mini-dialogues, simulations, debates, presentations.
  • Depending on levels: Revising grammar, expanding vocabulary and idioms, and improving pronunciation

Programme elements related to sustainable development goals

Students are sensitised to issues linked to climate change, renewable energies, the circular economy, alternative lifestyles and sustainable buildings and cities.
