This course aims to understand the physical mechanisms present in turbulent flows and the physical and theoretical bases of the various models used for simulating turbulent flows, in order to master their use in turbulent flow simulation.
The program covers the following points: • Characterization and definition of turbulent flows based on observation. • Statistical description of turbulent flows and associated basic concepts. • The homogeneous turbulence model associated with a constant mean velocity gradient. • Notions on free turbulent flows: turbulent plane jet. • Notions on wall turbulent flows: turbulent boundary layer. • Predictive method for turbulent flows: K-ε and uiuj-ε models. • Application to concrete examples of industrial configurations processed by CFD software.
