Goals

This course will introduce engineering students to the classic and innovative principles and techniques of sample characterization and analysis for environmental monitoring (air, water, agri-food). As the data collected during these analyses is often complex to process, engineering students will learn about statistical analysis methods. Finally, the bio-engineering of interfaces will be addressed to develop surfaces with special properties such as anti-fooling (anti-bacterial surface).

Programme

  1. Environmental monitoring: electronic nose and tongue, SPR detection (TP1)
  2. Anti-bacterial surfaces: surface functionalization and characterization (TP2)
  3. Data analysis (BE1)
