Goals

Understand and evaluate the potential of solar energy from source to operation

Programme

Introduction. notions of light matter interactions Solar irradiation: detection of the sun, irradiance & irradiation of a sensor (in connection with BE) Solar thermal plan (principles, yield calculation, outlook)/concentrated (examples) Photovoltaic: semiconductor bases, PN junction with and without illumination, performance limits, main filières, multijunctions. Photovoltaic module, integration into the grid. Place of solar in the mix.
